Corns are an inverted cone of hard skin that is pushed into the foot in areas with intermittent mechanical stresses.

They are usually found in areas of high pressure for instance across the ball of the foot, under the metatarsal heads, on the dorsal or top side of the toes joints and between the toes. They have an inner core that can be soft or hard. People generally describe the sensation as ‘having a pebble in their shoe’.

Corns become a problem when they grow large enough to cause pain and discomfort. Corns should not be removed using corn plasters or acid solution. At instep podiatry we recommend having corns removed by a non invasive debridement.

If you suffer with Diabetes, Peripheral Arterial Disease, Peripheral Neuropathy, or other conditions that cause circulatory problems or numbness then is it essential that you seek advice from a fully qualified and registered Chiropodist/Podiatrist before receiving any treatment for corns.

InStep Podiatry will reduce and remove corns using safe and proven techniques.
