Many people struggle to cut their own toenails, for example if the nails become too thickened, or if you have trouble bending and stretching for extended periods of time. We offer a complete nail cutting service which will ensure your nails are neat and tidy. We ensure that thickened nails are reduced and all nails are completely free from dead skin that can cause pain in the sides of the nail when subjected to pressure.

Fungal nail infections are very common in the toenails and usually occur in adults. One nail or several nails can be affected on one or both feet.

What are the symptoms of Fungal Nails?

The affected nail often looks unpleasant but it does not always cause pain or other symptoms. The nail may appear thickened and discoloured and can sometimes be crumbly. The nail can turn white, black, yellow or green in colour. Fungal nail infections are most commonly caused by a fungal skin infection, such as athletes foot.

Podiatry Treatment for Fungal Nails

Fungal nails can be treated with either a topical treatment or antifungal tablets. These treatments may be most effective if combined. InStep Podiatry can give advice on the most suitable treatment for you while correctly cutting and filing the nails to improve their appearance and any discomfort. Feet should be kept cool and dry as fungal nails thrive in a warm and damp environment.
